Organization Structure and Culture

Some of the people I work with at the Marin IJ are: Dave Allen, Sports Editor, Derek Wilson, reporter, and John Dugan, reporter. The culture of the newspaper is laid back as far as work environment goes.The nature of the newsroom when I am there is quiet and seemingly calm. During certain times of the day, phones are ringing off the hook. However, journalism itself is not a calming or laid back business. Accuracy is the most vital factor in any kind of journalism. Every detail counts so in that sense, the culture is meticulous and not as relaxed.
